December 8, 2011 the FDA advisory committee is scheduled to review the safety of Yaz ans Yasmin birth control pills. Just days before this meeting, the FDA released a safety report suggesting that Yasmin and Yaz labels should include a warning for increased risk of blood clots.

Women  using Yaz/Yasmin, which contains a hormone called drosperinone, increase the risk of blood clots 75% more  than other birth control pills, which contain a hormone called levonorgestrel. The FDA advisors panel will vote December 8 on the safety of Yaz and Yasmin to protect women using the birth control pills in the U.S.

Recent evidence  suggests that the FDA was mislead by Bayer of important safety information of Yaz and Yasmin. David Kessler, commissioner of the FDA, testified that Bayer purposely mislead the FDA about the safety of Yaz and Yasmin by presenting selective data on blood clots.

The contreaversal hearing has banned Kesslers expert testimony due to the deadline for written testimony was November 23. The FDA also banded Dr. Sidney Wolfe from attending the hearing this Thursday.. Dr. Wolfe is a leading drug safety advocate who is head of research of the consumer advocacy group, Public Citizen. In the “Worst Pills Best Pills” Newsletter they listed Yaz as “do not use” which raised conflict of interest.

Hundreds of lawsuits are being pursued through Parilman Law against Bayer by women all over the United States. Women using Yaz and Yasmin, including generic types, Gianvi , Loryna, Ocella, Safyral, Syeda and Zarah, should be warned of the increased risk of blood clots, heart attack, stroke, deep vein thrombosis, gall bladder disease and even sudden death.

In many situations when someone is injured, simply obtaining an understanding of what that person’s legal rights and options are goes a long way towards moving towards a plan for resolution of the matter. Therefore, when people come to see the consumer advocate lawyers at Parilman & Associates because they have been injured, their initial consultation is free of charge.
