Eliquis Side Effects

Eliquis

The manufacturers of the drug Eliquis are now finding themselves facing allegations that the blood thinner is no more safe than others on the market that have also faced legal ramifications for adverse side effects. As Eliquis is continued to be prescribed to this day, the number of allegations will most likely grow in number as well. Eliquis users should be warned and know what to look for in case of any adverse reactions to the drug which could qualify them for a potential claim.

What is Eliquis?

Eliquis is an anticoagulant, or blood thinner, that is prescribed to reduce the risk of blood clots and stroke. Since 2012 Bristol-Myers Squibb and Pfizer have marketed Eliquis as a safer blood thinner than others on the market so little to no monitoring is provided following prescription. Blood thinners have always carried the risk of serious or uncontrollable bleeding, but Eliquis has no antidote making these side effects even riskier for patients. The road to FDA approval for Eliquis was not without its bumps, it being one of the last anticoagulants to gain approval following questionable clinical trial practices.

Eliquis Side Effects

Taking Eliquis can greatly increase the risk of uncontrollable bleeding and unusual bruising. Other side effects include:

  • Uncontrollable internal bleeding
  • Blood clots
  • Death

Eliquis Lawsuits

If any of these symptoms were experienced while taking Eliquis, patients should have the details of their potential case reviewed by an Eliquis lawyer with experience. Not only did the manufacturers of Eliquis not provide an antidote for potentially serious or deadly side effects, but Bristol-Myers Squibb and Pfizer also failed to properly warn consumers of said side effects. Legal action needs to be taken sooner rather than later to hold these companies responsible for the adverse side effects of Eliquis.
